Cuban dogs
Triptych, analog photos b/w
2005

The triptych of black and white photographs Three Cuban Dogs is part of a series taken in the urban spaces of Havana in 2006. It is another of my projects dealing with the rhetoric of demolition and disenchantment.

The title of this work plays its cynical role while the photos show three repeated sequences of part of a collapse in an architectural space in Old Havana.

This ruin is set against the background of another wall, in dialogue with it. The photo shows a courtyard, a garden with plants that have survived the disaster, in front of a wall painted with a landscape of Cuban countryside. We do not know what kind of a place had previously occupied the space but at the time when the photo was taken a family was living there, almost outdoors, with their three dogs.
